Ghana is one country that has produced remarkable talents in contemporary times.
In its various entertainment niches, there is no shortage of celebrities. Some of these celebrities come from wealthy backgrounds while others who although, are from average backgrounds have, by showcasing their talents, acquired wealth and fame.

10. Nadia Buari
We got the dice rolling with Nadia Buari, a talented Ghanaian actress who received two nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007 and 2009. Her mother is Hajia Buari a beautician and she is the daughter of Alhaji Sidiku Buari, an eminent musician and producer. She sure is daddy’s girl.
9. Deborah Owusu-Bonsu
Dashing Deborah Vanessa Owusu-Bonsu is a Ghanaian television presenter, model and academic. She is the sister to Wanlov The Kubolor, a popular Ghanaian hip-life artiste. Their father had a massive stake in Vanef STC, which was a transportation giant in the country. Her mother is Romanian. She also attended University of the Arts London.
8. Shatta Wale
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., stage named Shatta Wale is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician, who won the award of Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards 2014. Shatta Wale is the son of Charles Mensah who, it is reported is one of the political juggernauts in Ghana.

The beautiful Ama Konadu Abebrese, popularly known as Ama K. Abebrese is one of the most successful Ghanaian actresses. She is also a television presenter and producer. She has interviewed famous celebrities such as Harrison Ford, Akon, Neyo, Idris Elba and Rihanna. She won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards 2011. Mensa Ansah, popularly known as M3NSA is a Ghanaian hip-life artiste. He was born in Accra but was raised in the USA and the UK. His father is Tumi Ebow Ansah, an actor, composer, ethnomusicologist, musician and poet. He has been featured in many TV series and has played Leading Roles in several featured films in Europe and Africa such as Farewell to Dope, Genesis Chapter X, His Majesty’s Sergent and award winning film, Heritage Africa in which he played Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana.
5. Majid Michel
Ghana’s most handsome actor, Majid Michel won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards 2012. His family owns most of the thriving businesses and distinguished houses in the Cantonment area, a suburb of the Ghana capital, Accra. His father is Lebanese and Ghanaian mother.
4. Yvonne Okoro
Screen goddess Yvonne Okoro is a gorgeous Ghanaian actress who received the award for Best Actress at the Ghana Movie Awards 2010. She is one of the highest paid actresses in Ghana. She comes from a wealthy family and according to various sources; she had her own home in East Legion before she took over the movie scene. Okoro also attended Universite de Nantes in France to study Press Civilization, Drama and Marketing.

Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, better known as Efya is a Ghanaian neo-soul vocalist, songwriter, performer and actress. She won the Best Female Vocal Performance Category at the Ghana Music Awards for 4 consecutive years, starting 2011. Her mother, Nana Adwoa Awindor is a successful filmmaker. She founded Premier Productions, which produced late television show Greetings from Abroad. Efya also attended NAFTI film school.
2. M.anifest
Kwame Ametepee Tsikata, popularly known as M.anifest is an award winning Ghanaian rapper and songwriter who won Best Rapper of the Year and Hip-Hop Song of the Year at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards. His father is the legendary Tsatsu Tsikata. M. Anifest is also the grandson of one of Africa’s foremost ethnomusicologists, J. H. Kwabena Nketia.
1. Reggie Rockstone
Reginald Osei, aka Reggie Rockstone is a Ghanaian rapper. Rightly called the Godfather of Hip-Life, he pioneered the Hip-Life movement in 1994. In 2004, Reggie won the Kora Award for the best African Video and he performed in front of a 50,000 person crowd in Ghana, together with Shaggy. Reggie is the son of accomplished fashion designer, Ricky ‘Ricci’ Osei. Rockstone was born in United Kingdom. He attended the elite boarding school, Achimota School in Accra, Ghana.
